Once they have established their goals, students can avoid stress, anxiety or depression due to peer pressure or the pressure of not positioning themselves, more especially career choices after high school. In particular, we always uphold the capacity of self-awareness of each person in the development journey of society in general and each individual in particular.
Coming to the topic “Life goal setting skills” at Luong The Vinh High School, Master of Psychology Vo Minh Thanh, psychologist at IPRTA shared:
- Goals need to be short-term and long-term planning. Short-term planning helps students break their work into smaller steps, in order to build motivation and confidence in moving forward.
- The goal is to motivate students to constantly try, help students maintain a style of learning and personal development.
- Goal setting also requires flexibility and a willingness to change as needed. Students need to understand that career paths do not always have to be straight and smooth, but can have obstacles and challenges. They need to be willing to change and adapt to new situations to achieve their life goals.
Before practicing life goal setting, we guided students to identify their needs, abilities, and living conditions. It aims to support students who do not become “dream fish that they know how to climb trees”. At that time, the goal is also a double-edged sword, if we determine the goal beyond the feasibility of the above 3 factors, it can leave material and mental losses, not to mention the amount of precious time that has passed wastefully.
