After listening to the sharing of in-depth knowledge and clear scientific and medical evidence, the students were overwhelmed by the comments about children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in particular, and other developmental disorders. Many parents did not accept that their child had autism, self-diagnosed, the diagnosis was not reputable, did not have the right expertise, and self-intervened. This has unintentionally delayed the golden period to support children’s development at the right age, losing the opportunity to integrate into society.
After the course, students can distinguish between screening, initial assessment (parents, teachers, child care providers, psychologists, special education teachers) and diagnosis (Tam experts). psychologist, pediatric neurologist, medical tools and scales). Especially correctly understanding children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and early identification for early intervention before age 3 helps children progress.
Next, Master of Psychology Pham Thanh Tam – a practitioner of psychotherapy intervention for children with autism – shared his experience working with children with autism and guided the practice of skills (communication, interaction skills). eyes, body language, playing with children, managing emotions…).
